Mr.LongArm,
Inc.
Mr.LongArm,
Inc. and its parent company, Specialty Products, have manufactured
window washing equipment, painting tools, and hardware products
since 1959. We were the first to offer telescoping extension
poles, and we continue to lead the industry in their development.
In 1993 Mr.LongArm began utilizing composite technology
in the manufacture of our extension poles for increased
strength, durability, rigidity and versatility. The quality
and dependability of our products are insured by our involvement
in all aspects of their manufacture. Our factory's tool
and die shop produces the moulds used by our injection moulding
division and we also have the capability to extrude tubing.
To assure consistent results, our automated assembly equipment
incorporates the latest robotic technology. Most important,
our staff is committed to providing our customers with fast,
efficient service. "Quality and Service" - our
guarantee to you.
Mr.LongArm's
headquarters are located in Greenwood, Missouri, a small
town just outside of Kansas City, Missouri. We have another
production facility and distribution center in Butler, Missouri.
We also utilize the warehouse, distribution and administrative
service of Freighways in Katwijk, Netherlands to service
all the European Union and United Kingdom.
MAKING
CUSTOMERS' LIVES EASIER FOR FORTY YEARS
When R.D. Newman invented the first aluminum telescopic
extension handle in 1958, he was fulfilling the needs of
a customer. Now Mr.LongArm produces one hundred different
models of telescoping extension poles which attach to products
that make life easier for professional and do-it-yourself
painters, window washers and cleaners. Mr.LongArm has continued
to prosper for 45 years, due in great extent to its ability
to listen to and meet the demands of its market.
The
idea for the first aluminum extension handle came to R.D.
Newman while he was making a sales call on a paint business
in Wichita in 1958. The owner and a paint contractor were
struggling, trying to tape a paint roller frame to a piece
of regular electrical conduit. When Mr. Newman returned
home, he started thinking of aluminum to replace the heavy
and too unwieldy electrical conduit. In 1959, he formed
the company that would become Mr.LongArm to start producing
the first known aluminum extension handles. He and his wife
started showing these products at various trade shows and
they were a big success.
These
telescoping poles have evolved over the years and Mr.LongArm's
research and development departments continue to make great
strides in product enhancements. Although most of our poles
traditionally have been straight and made primarily out
of aluminum, recent innovations have included the ProCurve
system and use of fiberglass in a wide variety of our poles.
The quality and dependability of our products are ensured
by our involvement in all aspects of manufacturing, including
the use of our own injection-molding and fiberglass pultrusion
systems. We also have expanded our product line beyond extension
poles, and now manufacture and sell many of the applicators
and other accessories that attach to them. Mr.LongArm products
are now sold in paint, home decorating and hardware stores
across the U.S. and many foreign countries. Private labeling
and custom manufacturing are also part of our firm's line
of distribution.
Our
growth has been rapid over the past few years and so has
the expansion of our facilities and workforce. We have expanded
our production facilities over the last several years, and
now have an additional plant in Bulter, Missouri. We are
exporting to nearly 50 countries with a new distribution/customer
services set-up in Holland. Our constant push towards complete
automation has given us the edge to compete in the world
market.
Ms.
Dere' Newman took on the role of President of Mr.LongArm
in 2002. Dere' is a very people- oriented person, and she
stresses listening to the needs of employees and customers.
She actively seeks out ideas, suggestions and comments on
our products from those who make them and from those who
use them.
Ms.
Sandra Swinney-Pierce is the Director of International Sales,
and believes the support of Ms. Newman through her international
perspective on business will take Mr.LongArm well into the
21st Century.
