around the world. The following steps will help you navigate the
site to get the most out of each section.

this site. Add IMEX.COM to your favorites list. We are sure

The menu on the immediate left is set up to expand your options.
Just click on the blue/green topic buttom and links to resources
will expand open. Click on the topic button again, the button
will collapse to a single button.
Each topic
button except ABOUT IMEX contain an overview document. Read this
document to learn how the section may apply to your business.

Find IMEX
Members by name, product, packaging, country, or join IMEX by
clicking on any of the buttons that appear at the top of the membership
pages.

The best way
to find partners and customers is to join
IMEX. Membership includes a subscription to the IMEX Report,
a contact page and product catalog page with an autoemail form
to make it easy for people to find you.

Think out the strategy and information you need and then work

#1 Exporting from the U.S
Suppose
your business is in the U.S. and you want to export your product
to a new country. Here is one strategy that might work:
- First,
check out the Global Markets listing for that country.
- Next,
check the government listing for countries to do business in
and be sure you can sell your product in that country.
- Next do
your marketing by stat-usa, doc.gov, etc.
- Find a
distributor in that country
- Get expert
asssistance - useac
- What country
government help is available
- Finance

- What forms
and duties are required
- Get advise
on shipping and locating a logistics company

#2 Importing into the U.S
If you are looking to import your products into the U.S.
you need to know:
- Are they
any duties or restrictions
- Where
to find a distributor
- What U.S.
government help is available

QUALIFY
THE PARTNERS YOU FIND ON THE WEB
Care must be taken to insure that the person at the other end
of your deal is a legitimate business partner. IMEX Exchange,
Inc. does not take responsibility for finding partners or for
the deal. We are not in the trading business. We simply provide
information and tools to help you locate potential partners. We
do not vouch for them in any way. It is up to you to qualify those
people and companies you find. Do your research.
- Start
with credit rating companies such as Dunn and Brad Street. IMEX
is developing a list of rating companies by country and will
shortly add it to this site.
- Banks
will help secure payment with Letters of Credit.
- Obtain
references from your prospective partner and check those references.
Remember,
just because someone has a fancy Web site does not mean they are
a good credit risk. Do your due diligence before you commit your
time and your companies money to the relationship.
